About the Faculty review
Benefits
Some of the benefits include:
- Increased self awareness of roles and issues
- Improved plans, policies and procedures
- Effective and efficient processes
- Effective allocation of resources
- Improved quality assurance processes
Context - Previous Reviews (Faculty Reviews)
The Faculty last conducted a review in 1994 and undertook a major restructuring
in 1997 and a further review of the restructuring in 1998. It would seem
sensible to use these previous reviews as reference points for discussing
our past, present and future. These documents contain some survey data
and statistics which will help us measure shifts in attitudes, priorities
and practices over time.
Copies of these documents can be obtained from the Associate Deans or
Lorraine Bennett.
Outcomes
We need to prepare a Review Portfolio which will detail the evidence
we have about our performance. This final Review Document is to be 10,000
words with appendices.
To help prepare the Review Document each portfolio is preparing a Portfolio
Response to the Terms of Reference relevant to their area. The strategies
for preparing these Responses are outlined in the Draft Guidelines for
Responding to the Terms of Reference Document. It is suggested that these
responses apply/utilise Monash's quality cycle framework to illustrate
how we have 'Planned, Acted, Monitored and Evaluated and Improved' our
position/performance.
Purpose
The purpose of the Review is to provide a ‘helicopter' view of
how well the Faculty is travelling. In particular we are interested in
how well we are doing what we say we are doing and how we know.
This is a self – review. We will look at where we are performing
strongly and where we need to improve. Our focus will be on providing
evidence to demonstrate our performance and progress and when we have
prepared our Review Report we will invite an external panel to visit
to verify our review processes and findings.
