Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (GCHE)

As part of their probation period at Monash University academic staff without formal higher education teaching qualifications may be required by the university to undertake these to ensure Monash maintains its reputation as a quality learning environment.

The GCHE is a practically based program of initial training in higher education teaching. It provides the knowledge and skills for staff to develop and advance their teaching practices. It is offered to Monash staff on a ‘fees waived' basis.

Staff commencing at the Faculty of Education might well be in a position to apply for a full or partial exemption based on an equivalent qualification from another university or relevant teaching experience (Recognised Prior Learning - RPL). A fast-track application for exemption is availableon the basis of a teaching qualification plus evidence of successful transfer of a teaching qualification plus evidence of successful transfer of a teaching skills to a tertiary context. Please consult the Associate Dean (Staff), Dr Ros Smith on x52820.
